Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

How is ibaPDA affected?

When you install the security update on a PC running the ibaPDA server the following effects will happen

  • The ibaPDA OPC DA server will not work anymore. You will not be able to read data with OPC DA clients from the ibaPDA OPC DA server anymore.
  • In case you have OPC DA client modules in your I/O configuration for acquiring data from OPC DA servers these modules do not work anymore. The acquisition cannot be started anymore as long as these modules are activated in your I/O configuration.

What can you do to get around this problem?

  • You can temporarily disable the OPC client modules in the IO configuration by setting the ‘Enabled’ property in the ‘General’ tab of the OPC DA client module to ‘False’. Of course this means that no data is recorded via these modules, but the acquisition with all other remaining modules can be started this way.
  • When you uninstall the security update, the OPC DA functionality in ibaPDA will work again. Please uninstall security updates only in accordance with your companies IT security policies.
