What’s new in this version?
Improvements
- ibaVision v3.2.1 supports the latest Python version 3.14, giving customers access to the newest Python features, performance improvements, and current third-party package versions. Vision applications can be developed and maintained with an up-to-date Python environment, ensuring long-term compatibility of the installed base.
- Python virtual environments (venv) are now supported. Each ibaVision program can run in its own isolated venv with its own package versions and dependencies. This enables parallel operation of vision applications with different package setups, simplifies dependency management per application, and eliminates manual environment configuration – upgrades of one application no longer affect others.
- New encoding and image resize timing metrics in the Video Output Diagnostics tab make it easier to investigate video delay and frame rate issues, reducing troubleshooting time.
- Video encoding performance with Intel encoders has been improved on modern hardware, enabling more efficient video processing.
- The ibaVision service can now be restarted directly from the user interface with a single click, simplifying maintenance and recovery actions.
Bugfixes
- Fixed issues that could cause a "Numpy array had an unexpected size" error and incorrect ibaCapture inputs on iconic inputs, improving the reliability of Python-based vision applications.
- Fixed a "Not a supported parameter" error that could occur with recent NVIDIA driver versions. Video encoding now works reliably across current NVIDIA driver releases.
- In previous versions, hardware-accelerated decoding was not applied when ibaVision was running as a Windows service – the decoder silently switched back to software decoding, resulting in significantly higher CPU load and memory usage. This has been fixed: ibaVision now automatically uses hardware-accelerated decoding in service operation whenever a suitable GPU is available, reducing CPU load and ensuring the same decoding performance as in interactive mode.
- In addition, this version contains further stability improvements, including fixes for a rare crash in the video input preview, repeated connection warning prompts, outdated service status in the tray icon menu, and long delays when loading scripts from restricted network paths.
